Everybody's doing it. Well maybe not. But seems like I was hearing about it a lot. Im not ready to go full out paleo- my family is DEFINITELY not ready.. And I'll be honest, not sure doing it forever is really the best thing. But I am finishing up a Paleo organ detox and it has been interesting.
First thing I noticed is that it is expensive!! Wow. Which kind of bugs me. Fruits and veggies, nuts, true grains, ect come across as being "easier" to obtain in comparison to something that has been run thru some kind of preservation and packaging and shipped off to Costco. So why is it so much more to buy the raw stuff? Dumb.
The detox also was a sugar fast- so if it wasn't sweet from fruit it wasn't happening. That was hard. Hardest thing to not have was life saver hard candy.
Day 3 I had a massive headache and started to seriously breakout. I decided it was from my body flushing out all the junk.
Day 4 was good and I felt like I was into the swing of things.
Today is day 5 and I'm SO sick of fish, nuts, kale, broccoli, and lemon water.
But I FEEL SO GOOD.
Minus my gross skin- apparently this is going to carry on for a bit while I keep detoxing.
Recommended time for an organ detox- according to Dr Oz, is 5-25 days. We are leaving for sunny California Friday. I have a feeling my detox will end Saturday morn.

Living the Dream
I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to be when I "grew up" But I'm certain that motherhood has exceeded any other of my hopes and dreams.
Things that I have said this morning:
"we need to be very very careful with potions. They can really hurt"
"please try to find a more Sunday appropriate game"....
A few minutes later
"there is no such thing as Zombie Missionaries"
"Preslie- we can't fit any more hair accessories on your head" (she wants all of them on!)
"Zane, one pair of shorts under your church pants only, and no more then 2 undershirts" still waiting for this layering up phase to end.
"that is sour cream not yogurt"
"I'm not sure why no one has made just dance for the wii with primary songs"
It's fun to be a Mom

Brody's "Book"
Here are the most recent pieces from Brody's writing book they work on at school. Its always a treat when he brings home his creative writing. The fish story was from his Non-fiction unit, and then the others are from his poetry unit.
The Fish
By Brody Mecham
Fishing is
the best sport I have ever played. It is better than soccer or hockey, or
sledding, or basketball, or even toilet tag. And I really like toilet tag.
I love
fishing because it is a sport of patience and fun. It is also important because
it can give you food. Fishing is a survival skill. If you don’t have food you
will die.
When I went
camping, there was a pond by our campsite. There were fish in the pond and a
tunnel that went into a stream. I went to the stream with my friend. We had
nets. If there were fish close to the surface, we were going to catch them! We
saw a fin sticking out of the water. I tried to scoop it but it vanished into
the murky water. We waited about twenty seconds and we saw the fish fin again! This
time me and my friend had a plan. We surrounded the fish and I scooped it head
first into my net. I caught it!!!
We took it
back to camp. I was so excited and happy to have trout meat. My friend was
excited too. I didn't gut the fish because I was too young and I didn't know
how, and because watching a fish get its head cut off made my stomach hurt.
That was just back then. My friends Dad
gut the fish. He chopped off the head, and took out the insides and the bones
so that we could eat the meat. We cooked it in a pot outside. I felt pretty
good that I caught diner! Supper was pretty good, the trout meat was the best I
had ever had.
We caught
more fish later when we were fishing in a boat.
That’s why
fishing is the best sport I have ever played.

Big
I won't whine and complain about how much I still hate having kids in school. Because you all know. I just MISS them!!! And I'm really not a fan of aging- even in children. We had lunch with Brody and he was lined up with the other kids- and he's just HUGE!
Preslie LOVES shoes, in fact, other then Mama and Dada, shoe is her first real word. She couldn't even look at me because she was too busy checking out her shoes :)
Just sleeping. They have their own beds, but always share. And some nights even share a pillow :)
